Privacy Policy

This policy explains what ClueGrid collects when you play, why, and the choices you have. ClueGrid is provided by the ClueGrid team, who is responsible for your data. Last updated: 2 November 2026.

What we collect

Account: a random player ID created when you first open the app. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account ID from them and, if you allow it, your email address and name. You can also set a display name and choose an avatar.

Game data: the puzzles you play and solve, your times, scores, coins, streaks, achievements, leaderboard positions and the friends you add with a friend code.

Settings: your language, time zone and reminder preferences, and a device token if you allow notifications.

Purchases: if you buy coins or remove ads, the App Store or Google Play confirms the purchase to us. We never see your card or bank details.

Reports: if you use "Report an error", the puzzle, the clue and the message you write.

Technical data: your IP address and app version in our server logs, and crash and usage information that helps us fix problems.

How we use it

To run the game: save your progress across devices, show leaderboards and friends, pay coins and rewards, and send the reminders you ask for.

To check purchases and rewarded ads, and to prevent cheating and abuse.

To fix errors in puzzles and in the app, and to improve the game.

We do not sell your personal data.

Services we use

Amazon Web Services (servers and storage in the European Union), Apple and Google (sign-in, purchases and notifications through Firebase), Google AdMob (ads, which may use your device’s advertising ID; you can limit this in your phone’s settings), and OpenAI (writing and checking puzzle clues; the text of an error report is sent to it, but not your name or email). We may also use crash reporting and analytics services that receive pseudonymous technical data.

What other players see

Your display name, avatar, level and scores on leaderboards, and to friends you add.

How long we keep it

As long as your account exists. When you delete your account in the app (Settings, Account, Delete account), we delete your data straight away, except records we must keep by law, such as purchase records.

Your rights

You can see, correct, export or delete your data, object to some uses and complain to your data protection authority. To use these rights, write to privacy@playcluegrid.app.

Children

ClueGrid is not directed at children under 13 (16 where local law requires) and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
